Multiplayer in VR has not been friendly, historically. This page will highlight common problems & how to fix them, as well as show methods for connecting with friends to get multiplayer started (tutorials coming soon).
Common Multiplayer Issues
Here’s a list of the most common multiplayer issues.
Different Versions
To play Ready Aim Dodge with a friend, each of you MUST be on the same version! To check, you can select the multiplayer tab of the main menu, and you will be shown your version number.
Stuttering/Strange Behavior
A common cause of lag/stuttering and a lack of smoothness in multiplayer is your modem. Try setting your modem to 5GHz for faster speeds. Be aware that there is a tradeoff, though. 5GHz will get blocked by your walls. (2.4GHz will penetrate walls and reach further in your house, but it will be slower.)
In addition, you may see strange behavior that doesn’t match single player games, such as arrows not resting on the side of the bow (as if they are going through the center of the bow) or arrows falling off the bow instead of drawing back to a “ready to fire” position.
Invite Friends Dialogue Doesn’t Show
When you start a private multiplayer match and your level has loaded, the first thing you should see is an Oculus/Meta Dialogue that allows you to invite friends. If you only see the Oculus/Meta bar and no friends list, try the following:
1) Confirm you have Wi-Fi and internet.
2) Try restarting your Quest/Quest 2.
Indefinitely “Joining Game” After Joining from Party
When one or more players has a mismatched version of the game from the other players in your Meta Party, no error is thrown, so the game will indefinitely say, “Joining game…”
Ensure all players have the same (most up to date) version of the game and try again.
